The Plot:
“When some friends decide to throw a small get together birthday party at an old abandoned campground they never planned on being killed or kidnapped one by one. In this relaunch of a lost genre known as Slasher Films you’ll be dying too see what’s around the next camper!”

Netflix Original Series “Hemlock Grove” Set to Terrify April 19th

From executive producer Eli Roth and creators Brian McGreevy & Lee Shipman comes Hemlock Grove, a brand new horror series available exclusively on Netflix. Based on Brian McGreevy’s novel of the same name, Hemlock Grove is a “riveting one-hour murder mystery that revolves around the residents of a former Pennsylvania steel town. When 17-year-old Brooke Bluebell is brutally murdered, any of Hemlock’s peculiar inhabitants – or killer creatures – could be suspects. Through the investigation, the town’s seamier side is exposed, revealing nothing is what it seems. Beautiful, terrifying and graphic, Hemlock Grove is unlike anything else in its genre.”

Sounds like a hell of a lot of fun and Slasher Studios is sure to check it out next month. All 13 episodes of Season 1 will be available exclusively on Netflix beginning April 19, 2013. Do you plan on checking it out?

As 2012 Comes to an End…

slasherfacebooklogo

As Christmas comes to an end and a new year is right around the corner, I can officially say that 2012 has been the best year of my life thus far. From horror conventions to film festivals to meeting some amazing horror fans and filmmakers, I cannot accurately put into words how much this year has met to me. Seeing the support from my peers (fellow indie horror filmmakers, I love you all) to the respect the indie world has shown both us at Slasher Studios, it has been overwhelming in the best possible way. Next year with Don’t Go to the Reunion, our first feature, we are ready to give back to the horror world a valentine of everything we love about the genre. I want to thank each and every one of you out there that has been following us and cheering us every possible step of the way. YOU are the ones we do this for and receiving the incredible reaction to the films we have created is something I will never, ever take for granted. I am a better person because each and everyone of you is in my life. Don’t ever forget that. Here’s to 2013!!

Slasher Fans Unite: Top 20 Slashers of All Time (Part One)

The results are in everyone! We have for you today the top 20 slashers of all time as decided by YOU, the slasher fans. We will be looking at numbers 20 through 11 and next Friday we will count down the top 10 best slashers of all time! Are you ready for a blood red Christmas?

get-attachment

#20–HELL NIGHT (1980)
A very underrated Linda Blair slasher that is heavy on atmosphere and light on gore. Lots of fun with a great final chase scene.

get-attachment (1)

#19–HOUSE ON SORORITY ROW (1983)
A “classy” slasher that has aged far better than most of the horror films from the same era. Great characters and a wonderful setting help make this a slasher to die for.

get-attachment (2)

#18–HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME (1981)
Great ad campaign, likable characters, and some pretty kick-ass deaths make this “Birthday” one to remember.

get-attachment (3)

#17–SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE (1982)
You bring the pizza, I’ll bring a drill. The first slasher on our list not to take itself completely seriously, “Massacre” is tongue-in-cheek but delivers the bloody goods.

get-attachment (4)

#16–FRIDAY THE 13TH PART VI: JASON LIVES (!986)
Quite possibly the strangest slasher on this top 20 list, I love JASON LIVES as much as the next slasher fan but didn’t know there was so much love for this comedy-horror sequel. Maybe it’s Megan?

get-attachment (5)

#15–THE PROWLER (1981)
A grisly and mean spirited slasher with a lot of punch and a lot of blood. Great final girl and amazing Tom Savini fx make this slasher flick a must see.

get-attachment (6)

#14–SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT (1984)
The controversial Christmas slasher that was pulled from theatrical release by TriStar after two weeks when an angry mob of parents protested at the theater. One of the more sympathetic killers of all time and it is now available again on DVD to purchase for the first time in years.

get-attachment (7)

#13–MY BLOODY VALENTINE (1981)
Another mean spirited slasher, “Valentine” was raped by the MPAA upon release and the uncut version is now available on DVD and Blu-ray. Highly recommended stuff for those that love holiday horror.

get-attachment (9)

#12–FRIDAY THE 13TH PART II (1981)
My favorite of the “Friday” sequels and it looks like you slasher fans agree. A scary potato sack Jason, a wonderful final girl in for the form of Ginny (played by the uber-underrated Amy Steel), and a jump-out-of-your-seat ending make this a near perfect slasher sequel.

get-attachment (8)

#11–PROM NIGHT (1980)
One of the better revenge slashers from the early 80’s with a great disco prom and killer theme song. Jamie Lee Curtis’ best horror performance outside of Laurie Strode and the ending is chilling.

There you have it slasher fans, numbers 11-20 on the top 20 slashers of all time. Make sure to check us out next Friday for the Top 10 slashers of all time. Until then, have a weekend filled with slashers!

Slasher Studios Is Thankful For YOU!

Happy Thanksgiving horror fans! Hope everyone is spending the day with their closest family and friends while enjoying a great-bad slasher flick. Which brings us to the question, What are we thankful for this year at Slasher Studios? Maybe a better question would be, “What AREN’T we thankful for?” This has been one of the best years of my life. I have had the honor of meeting some awesome horror people in the last year. I could list names but the list would drone on and on and on…let’s just say, you know who you are. I’m thankful to be able to work with a group of people who love and cherish the horror genre as much as I do. I am thankful for the horror fans out there who have embraced us with open arms. Seeing the reception to TEDDY all over the world has brought a smile to my diabolical face. This has truly been the year to top all years when it comes to horror in my life. I thank all of you from the very bottom of my heart. I am a better person because YOU are in my life. Thank you!
